Which drugs should employers test for?


The panel is knows as the NIDA 5 (or DOT 5) which includes testing for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP), amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, methaqualone, propxyphene. However, the U.S. Department of Transportation rules require testing for marijuana, cocaines, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP), and amphetamines only. Employers may use a more comprehensive list as part of their drug testing protocol.
